✧ The Description of Cleaning on the Turban

أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ وَهْبٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ

خَصْلَتَانِ لَا أَسْأَلُ عَنْهُمَا أَحَدًا بَعْدَمَا شَهِدْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّا كُنَّا مَعَهُ فِي سَفَرٍ فَبَرَزَ لِحَاجَتِهِ ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ بِنَاصِيَتِهِ وَجَانِبَيْ عِمَامَتِهِ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ قَالَ وَصَلَاةُ الْإِمَامِ خَلْفَ الرَّجُلِ مِنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ قَالَ فَشَهِدْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَنَّهُ كَانَ فِي سَفَرٍ فَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَاحْتَبَسَ عَلَيْهِمُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَأَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَقَدَّمُوا ابْنَ عَوْفٍ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ وَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَصَلَّى خَلْفَ ابْنِ عَوْفٍ مَا بَقِيَ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ ابْنُ عَوْفٍ قَامَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَضَى مَا سُبِقَ بِهِ

Translation

✧ There are two matters about which I will never ask anyone after what I witnessed from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. We were with him on a journey. He went aside to relieve himself, then came and performed wudu. He wiped his forelock and the sides of his turban, and wiped over his leather socks. And [the second matter is] the prayer of the imam behind a man from his flock. He said: "I witnessed from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he was on a journey, and the time for prayer came. The Prophet ﷺ was delayed, so they established the prayer and put Ibn Awf forward, and he led them in prayer. Then the Prophet ﷺ came and prayed behind Ibn Awf the remainder of the prayer. When Ibn Awf said the salam, the Prophet ﷺ stood up and made up what he had missed."
