أَخْبَرَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَالِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى {لَوْلَا كِتَابٌ مِنَ اللهِ سَبَقَ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِيمَا أَخَذْتُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٌ} [الأنفال 68] قَالَ «§سَبَقَتْ لَهُمْ مِنَ اللهِ الرَّحْمَةُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَعْمَلُوا بِالْمَعْصِيَةِ»

✧ Regarding His saying, exalted is He: {Were it not for a prior decree from God, a great punishment would have touched you for what you took} [Al-Anfal: 68], he said: "Mercy from God had preceded for them before they committed the sin."
