أَخْبَرَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ أَخْبَرَنَا غُنْدَرٌ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ وَمَنْصُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي الضُّحَى عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ قَالَ

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا رَأَى قُرَيْشًا قَدِ اسْتَعْصَوْا قَالَ «اللهُمَّ أَعِنِّي بِسَبْعٍ كَسَبْعِ يُوسُفَ» فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ السَّنَةُ حَتَّى حَصَّتْ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى أَكَلُوا الْجُلُودَ وَجَعَلَ يَخْرُجُ مِنَ الْأَرْضِ كَهَيْئَةِ الدُّخَانِ فَأَتَاهُ أَبُو سُفْيَانَ فَقَالَ أَيْ مُحَمَّدُ إِنَّ قَوْمَكَ قَدْ هَلَكُوا فَادْعُ اللهَ أَنْ يَكْشِفَ عَنْهُمْ فَدَعَا وَقَالَ إِنْ يَعُودُوا نَعُدْ هَذَا فِي حَدِيثِ مَنْصُورٍ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ {فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاءُ بِدُخَانٍ مُبِينٍ} [الدخان 10] قَالَ عَذَابُ الْآخِرَةِ فَقَدْ مَضَى الدُّخَانُ وَالْبَطْشَةُ وَاللِّزَامُ وَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا الْقَمَرُ وَقَالَ الْآخَرُ وَالرُّومُ

Translation

✧ Abd Allah said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw that Quraysh had become obstinate, he said: "O Allah, help me against them with seven like the seven of Yusuf." Then famine seized them until it destroyed everything, until they ate hides, and something like smoke began to emerge from the earth. Abu Sufyan came to him and said: O Muhammad, your people have perished, so supplicate Allah to remove it from them. So he supplicated, and he said: If they return, we will return. This is in the hadith of Mansur. Then he recited this verse {So watch for the day when the sky will bring a visible smoke} [al-Dukhan: 10]. He said: The punishment of the hereafter. The smoke, the seizing, and the lizam have passed. One of them said: the moon, and the other said: al-Rum.
