أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ بْنِ مُسَاوِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ صَفْوَانَ بْنَ عَسَّالٍ الْمُرَادِيَّ قُلْتُ هَلْ حَفِظْتَ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْهَوَى حَدِيثًا؟ قَالَ نَعَمْ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي سَفَرٍ قَدْ سَمَّاهُ عَاصِمٌ إِذْ نَادَاهُ رَجُلٌ كَانَ فِي أُخْرَيَاتِ الْقَوْمِ بِصَوْتٍ لَهُ جَهْوَرِيٍّ جِلْفٌ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ يَا مُحَمَّدُ فَقَالَ لَهُ الْقَوْمُ مَهْ إِنَّكَ نُهِيتَ عَنْ هَذَا فَأَجَابَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى نَحْوٍ مِنْ صَوْتِهِ «هَاؤُمُ هَاؤُمُ» فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ يُحِبُّ الْقَوْمَ وَلَمَّا يَلْحَقْ بِهِمْ؟ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «الْمَرْءُ مَعَ مَنْ أَحَبَّ» فَمَا بَرِحَ يُحَدِّثُنَا حَتَّى حَدَّثَنَا أَنَّ اللهَ جَعَلَ بِالْمَغْرِبِ بَابًا مَسِيرَةُ عَرْضِهِ سَبْعُونَ عَامًا لِلتَّوْبَةِ لَا يُغْلَقُ مَا لَمْ تَطْلُعِ الشَّمْسُ مِنْ قِبَلِهِ قَالَ وَذَلِكَ قَوْلُ اللهِ ﷻ {يَوْمَ يَأْتِي بَعْضُ آيَاتِ رَبِّكَ لَا يَنْفَعُ نَفْسًا إِيمَانُهَا لَمْ تَكُنْ آمَنَتْ مِنْ قَبْلُ أَوْ كَسَبَتْ فِي إِيمَانِهَا خَيْرًا} [الأنعام 158]

✧ From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ concerning love: a hadith? He said: Yes. We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a journey—ʿĀṣim named it—when a man at the rear of the people called him in a loud, rough voice, saying: “O Muḥammad! O Muḥammad!” The people told him: “Enough! You have been forbidden from this.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ answered him in a manner similar to his voice, “Here I am, here I am.” The man said: “A man loves a people but has not yet caught up with them?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “A person is with the one he loves.” He did not cease narrating to us until he told us that Allah has placed in al-Maghrib a gate whose width covers a distance of seventy years for repentance, which will not close as long as the sun does not rise from its direction. He said: And that is the saying of Allah, exalted is He: {On the day when some of the signs of your Lord come, no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before or earned good through its faith} [al-Anʿām:158].
