✧ From the ḥadīth of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about intercession. Anas said: Muḥammad ﷺ told us: When the Day of Resurrection comes, people will surge into one another. Then Ādam will be brought, and it will be said to him: O Ādam, intercede for your progeny. He will say: I am not able for it, but go to Ibrāhīm, for he is the close friend of the Most Merciful. So Ibrāhīm will be brought, and he will say, meaning: I am not able for it, but go to Mūsā, for he is the one to whom Allah spoke. So Mūsā will be brought, and he will say: I am not able for it, but go to ʿĪsā, for he is a spirit from Allah and His word. So ʿĪsā ﷺ will be brought, and he will say: I am not able for it, but go to Muḥammad ﷺ. So he will be brought to me, and I will say: I am for it. I will ask permission of my Lord, and permission will be given to me. I will stand before Him, and He will inspire me with praises which I am not able to [articulate] now. I will praise Him with those praises, then I will fall prostrate before Him. He will say: O Muḥammad, raise your head, speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be given, intercede and you will be granted intercession. I will say: O Lord, my Ummah, my Ummah. It will be said: Go, and whoever has in his heart — he said either the weight of a grain of wheat or a grain of barley of faith — bring him out of it. So I will go and do that. Then I will return and praise Him with those praises, then I will fall prostrate before Him. It will be said: O Muḥammad, raise your head, speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be given, intercede and you will be granted intercession. I will say: O Lord, my Ummah, my Ummah. It will be said: Go, and whoever has in his heart the weight of a mustard seed of faith, bring him out of it. So I will go and do that. Then I will return and praise Him with those praises, then I will fall prostrate before Him. It will be said to me: O Muḥammad, raise your head, speak and you will be heard, ask and you will be given, intercede and you will be granted intercession. I will say: O Lord, my Ummah, my Ummah. It will be said: Go, and whoever has in his heart the least, least, least of the weight of a mustard seed of faith, bring him out of the Fire. So I will go. — the ḥadīth of Anas up to its end.
