أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ صَالِحِ أَبِي الْخَلِيلِ عَنْ أَبِي عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ أَنَّهُ §ذَكَرَ
أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَصَابُوا سَبَايَا مِنْ أَهْلِ الشِّرْكِ فَكَانَ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ كَفُّوا عَنْ غِشْيَانِهِنَّ مِنِ أَجْلِ أَزْوَاجِهِنَّ فَنَزَلَتْ {وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ مِنَ النِّسَاءِ إِلَّا مَا مَلَكَتْ أَيْمَانُكُمْ} [النساء 24]

✧ The companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ captured female captives from the polytheists. Some of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ refrained from having intercourse with them because of their husbands. Then the verse was revealed: {And married women, except those your right hands possess} [An-Nisa: 24].
