أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ أَدَّاهُ عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ

عَادَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ فِي بَنِي سَلَمَةَ يَمْشِيَانَ فَوَجَدَانِي لَا أَعْقِلُ فَدَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثُمَّ رَشَّ عَلَيَّ مِنْهُ فَأَفَقْتُ فَقُلْتُ كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ فِي مَالِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ {يُوصِيكُمُ اللهُ فِي أَوْلَادِكُمْ لِلذَّكَرِ مِثْلُ حَظِّ الْأُنْثَيَيْنِ} [النساء 11]

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ and Abu Bakr visited me while I was ill among the Banū Salamah, walking. They found me unconscious, so he called for water, performed ablution, then sprinkled some of it on me, and I regained consciousness. I said: “How should I deal with my wealth, O Messenger of Allah?” Then Allah revealed: “Allah instructs you concerning your children: the male shall have the share of two females” [al-Nisāʾ 11].
