أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ عَنِ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مَالِكٌ عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ أَخْبَرَ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «أَلَمْ تَرَيْ إِلَى قَوْمِكَ حِينَ بَنَوْا الْكَعْبَةَ اقْتَصَرُوا عَنْ قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ؟» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَا تَرُدُّهَا عَلَى قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ؟ فَقَالَ «لَوْلَا حَدَثَانُ قَوْمِكَ بِالْكُفْرِ» فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ لَئِنْ كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ سَمِعَتْ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَا أَرَى رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ تَرَكَ اسْتِلَامَ الرُّكْنَيْنِ اللَّذَيْنِ يَلِيَانَ الْحَجَرَ إِلَّا أَنَّ الْبَيْتَ لَمْ يَتِمَّ عَلَى قَوَاعِدِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Did you not see your people when they built the Kaaba, they fell short of the foundations of Ibrahim?' I said: O Messenger of Allah, will you not restore it to the foundations of Ibrahim? He said: 'Were it not that your people have only recently left disbelief.' Abdullah b. Umar said: If Aisha heard this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I do not think the Messenger of Allah ﷺ left off touching the two corners that are next to the Black Stone except that the House was not completed on the foundations of Ibrahim.
