أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ إِنَّ شَاءَ اللهُ قَالَ
جَاءَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَلَامٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مَقْدَمَهُ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي سَائِلُكَ عَنْ ثَلَاثٍ لَا يَعْلَمُهُنَّ إِلَّا نَبِيٌّ مَا أَوَّلُ أَشْرَاطِ السَّاعَةِ وَأَوَّلُ مَا يَأْكُلُ أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ وَالْوَلَدُ يَنْزِعُ إِلَى أَبِيهِ وَإِلَى أُمِّهِ؟ فَقَالَ «أَخْبَرَنِي بِهِنَّ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ آنِفًا» قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ ذَلِكَ رَذْلَةٌ عَدُوٌّ لِلْيَهُودِ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ قَالَ «أَمَّا أَوَّلُ أَشْرَاطِ السَّاعَةِ فَنَارٌ تَحْشُرُهُمْ مِنَ الْمَشْرِقِ إِلَى الْمَغْرِبِ وَأَمَّا أَوَّلُ طَعَامٍ يَأْكُلُهُ أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ فَزِيَادَةُ كَبِدِ حُوتٍ وَأَمَّا الْوَلَدُ فَإِذَا سَبَقَ مَاءُ الرَّجُلِ نَزَعَهُ وَإِذَا سَبَقَ مَاءُ الْمَرْأَةِ نَزَعَتْ» قَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ قَوْمٌ بُهُتٌ وَإِنْ عَلِمُوا بِإِسْلَامِي قَبْلَ أَنْ تَسْأَلَهُمْ عَنِّي بَهَتُونِي عِنْدَكَ فَجَاءَتِ الْيَهُودُ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيُّ رَجُلٍ فِيكُمْ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَلَامٍ؟» قَالُوا خَيْرُنَا وَابْنُ خَيْرِنَا وَسَيِّدُنَا وَابْنُ سَيِّدِنَا وَأَعْلَمُنَا قَالَ «أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَسْلَمَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَلَامٍ؟» قَالُوا أَعَاذَهُ اللهُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ فَقَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللهِ قَالُوا شَرُّنَا وَابْنُ شَرِّنَا وَانْتَقَصُوهُ قَالَ هَذَا مَا كُنْتُ أَخَافُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ

✧ Abdullah b. Salam came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ upon his arrival in Madinah and said: I will ask you about three things that no one knows except a prophet: What is the first of the signs of the Hour? What is the first food the people of Paradise will eat? And why does a child resemble his father and his mother? He said: 'Jibril ﷺ informed me of them just now.' Abdullah said: That is the enemy of the Jews among the angels. He said: 'As for the first of the signs of the Hour, it is a fire that will gather them from the east to the west. As for the first food the people of Paradise will eat, it is an extra lobe of fish liver. As for the child, if the man's fluid precedes, the child resembles him, and if the woman's fluid precedes, the child resembles her.' He said: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah. He said: O Messenger of Allah, the Jews are a slanderous people, and if they learn of my Islam before you ask them about me, they will slander me before you. Then the Jews came and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to them: 'What kind of man is Abdullah b. Salam among you?' They said: He is the best of us and the son of the best of us, our leader and the son of our leader, and the most learned of us. He said: 'What if Abdullah b. Salam accepts Islam?' They said: May Allah protect him from that. Then he came out to them and said: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. They said: He is the worst of us and the son of the worst of us, and they belittled him. He said: This is what I feared, O Messenger of Allah.
