أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مُطَرِّفٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ قَالَ رَأَى عُمَرُ طَلْحَةَ حَزِينًا فَقَالَ مَا لَكَ يَا فُلَانُ؟ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ كَلِمَةً لَا يَقُولُهَا عَبْدٌ عِنْدَ مَوْتِهِ إِلَّا نَفَّسَ اللهُ عَنْهُ كَرْبَهُ فَمَا مَنَعَنِي أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ عَنْهَا إِلَّا الْقُدْرَةُ عَلَيْهَا حَتَّى مَاتَ قَالَ إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُهَا هَلْ تَعْلَمُ مِنْ كَلِمَةٍ هِيَ أَعْظَمُ مِنْ كَلِمَةٍ أَمَرَ بِهَا عَمَّهُ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ» قَالَ هِيَ وَاللهِ هِيَ

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: I know a word which no servant says at the time of his death but that Allah relieves his distress. Nothing prevented me from asking him about it except the ability to do so until he died. He said: I know it. Do you know any word greater than the word he commanded his uncle with: 'There is no god but Allah'? He said: By Allah, it is that.
