أَخْبَرَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ يُونُسَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ كَيْفَ كَانَ صَلَاةُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ؟ قَالَتْ كَانَ يَقُولُ «اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِحَيِّنَا وَمَيِّتِنَا وَلِصَغِيرِنَا وَكَبِيرِنَا وَذَكَرِنَا وَأُنْثَانَا وَلِغَائِبِنَا وَشَاهِدِنَا اللهُمَّ مَنْ أَحْيَيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَأَحْيِهِ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ وَمَنْ تَوَفَّيْتَهُ مِنَّا فَتَوَفَّهُ عَلَى الْإِيمَانِ»

✧ I asked Aishah, "How was the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ over the deceased?" She said, "He would say: O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, our young and our old, our males and our females, our absent and our present. O Allah, whomever You keep alive among us, keep him alive upon Islam, and whomever You take in death among us, take him in death upon faith."
