أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا يَتَمَنَّى أَحَدُكُمُ الْمَوْتَ لِضُرٍّ نَزَلَ بِهِ فَإِنْ كَانَ لَا بُدَّ مُتَمَنِّيًا الْمَوْتَ فَلْيَقُلِ اللهُمَّ أَحْيِنِي مَا كَانَتِ الْحَيَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي وَتَوَفَّنِي إِذَا كَانَتِ الْوَفَاةُ خَيْرًا لِي
Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "None of you should wish for death because of harm that has befallen him. If he must wish for death, then let him say: O Allah, keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and cause me to die when death is better for me."
