أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ دَاوُدَ وَهُوَ الطَّائِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ
«وَقَعَ نَاسٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ فِي سَعْدٍ عِنْدَ عُمَرَ» فَقَالُوا وَاللهِ مَا يُحْسِنُ الصَّلَاةَ فَقَالَ «أَمَّا أَنَا فَإِنِّي أُصَلِّي صَلَاةَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَا أَخْرِمُ مِنْهَا أَرْكُدُ فِي الْأُولَيَيْنِ وَأَحْذِفُ فِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ» قَالَ «ذَاكَ الظَّنُّ بِكَ»

✧ Some people of al-Kūfah spoke against Saʿd in the presence of ʿUmar. They said: “By Allah, he does not pray well.” Saʿd said: “As for me, I pray the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, not diminishing anything from it: I prolong the first two rakʿahs and shorten the last two.” ʿUmar said: “That is what I thought of you.”
