أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي صَالِحُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدِيثًا رَفَعَهُ إِلَى سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ إِلَى رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ قَالَ نُوحٌ لِابْنِهِ إِنِّي مُوصِيكَ بِوَصِيَّةٍ وَقَاصِرُهَا كَيْ لَا تَنْسَاهَا أُوصِيكَ بِاثْنَتَيْنِ وَأَنْهَاكَ عَنِ اثْنَتَيْنِ أَمَّا اللَّتَانِ أُوصِيكَ بِهِمَا فَيَسْتَبْشِرُ اللهُ بِهِمَا وَصَالِحُ خَلْقِهِ وَهُمَا يُكْثِرَانِ الْوُلُوجَ عَلَى اللهِ تَعَالَى أُوصِيكَ بِلَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ فَإِنَّ السَّمَوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ لَوْ كَانَتَا حَلْقَةً قَصَمَتْهُمَا وَلَوْ كَانَتْ فِي كَفَّةٍ وَزَنَتْهُمَا وَأُوصِيكَ بِسُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ فَإِنَّهَا صَلَاةُ الْخَلْقِ وَبِهَا يُرْزَقُ الْخَلْقُ {وَإِنْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ إِلَّا يُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِهِ وَلَكِنْ لَا تَفْقَهُونَ تَسْبِيحَهُمْ إِنَّهُ كَانَ حَلِيمًا غَفُورًا} [الإسراء 44] وَأَمَّا اللَّتَانِ أَنْهَاكَ عَنْهُمَا فَيَحْتَجِبُ اللهُ مِنْهُمَا وَصَالِحُ خَلْقِهِ أَنْهَاكَ عَنِ الشِّرْكِ وَالْكِبْرِ

✧ That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Nuh said to his son: I enjoin upon you an injunction and I abbreviate it so that you do not forget it. I enjoin upon you two things and I forbid you from two things. As for the two that I enjoin upon you, Allah rejoices at them and so do the righteous of His creation, and they greatly increase one's access to Allah, Exalted is He: I enjoin you with La ilaha illa Allah, for if the heavens and the earth were a ring, it would break them, and if they were in one pan of a scale, it would outweigh them. And I enjoin you with Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi, for it is the prayer of creation, and through it creation is provided sustenance: {And there is not a thing except that it exalts [Allah] by His praise, but you do not understand their [way of] exalting. Indeed, He is ever Forbearing and Forgiving} [al-Isra 44]. As for the two that I forbid you from, Allah turns away from them and so do the righteous of His creation: I forbid you from shirk and pride.
