أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مُحَارِبٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ
مَرَّ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ بِنَاضِحَيْنِ عَلَى مُعَاذٍ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي الْمَغْرِبَ فَافْتَتَحَ سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ فَصَلَّى الرَّجُلُ ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «أَفَتَّانٌ يَا مُعَاذُ أَفَتَّانٌ يَا مُعَاذُ أَلَا قَرَأْتَ بِ سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى وَوَالشَّمْسِ وَضُحَاهَا وَنَحْوِهَا»

✧ A man from the Ansar passed by with two camels while Mu'adh was praying Maghrib, and he began Surah al-Baqarah. The man prayed (separately), then left. That reached the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: "Are you a trial, O Mu'adh? Are you a trial, O Mu'adh? Why did you not recite 'Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High' (al-A'la), 'By the sun and its brightness' (al-Shams), and the like?"
