أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُمْ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ مَعْدَانَ عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ
عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «أَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ؟» قَالُوا نَحْنُ أَضْعَفُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَأَعْجَزُ قَالَ إِنَّ اللهَ جَزَّأَ الْقُرْآنَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَجْزَاءٍ فَجَعَلَ {قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ} [الإخلاص 1] جُزْءًا مِنْ أَجْزَاءِ الْقُرْآنِ
Translation

✧ On the authority of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, he said: "Is one of you unable to recite one-third of the Qur'an in a night?" They said: "We are weaker than that and more incapable." He said: "Indeed, Allah has divided the Qur'an into three parts and made {Say: He is Allah, the One} [al-Ikhlas: 1] one part of the parts of the Qur'an."
