أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ يَسَافٍ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ قَالَ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَيَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَقْرَأَ فِي كُلِّ لَيْلَةٍ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ؟» فَسَكَتْنَا فَأَعَادَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ يَقُولُ لَنَا وَنَسْكُتُ ثُمَّ قَالَ مَنْ قَرَأَ فِي لَيْلَةٍ {قُلْ هُوَ اللهُ أَحَدٌ} [الإخلاص 1] فَقَدْ قَرَأَ ثُلُثَ الْقُرْآنِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Would any of you be unable to recite a third of the Qur'an every night?" We remained silent, and he repeated three times, speaking to us while we remained silent. Then he said, "Whoever recites in a night {Say: He is Allah, the One} [al-Ikhlas:1] has recited a third of the Qur'an."
