أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عُثْمَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنْ ابْنِ ثَوْبَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْحَرِّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَجْلَانَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْقُرَظِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَهْلِهِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَلَّمَهُ كَلِمَاتٍ إِذَا نَزَلَ بِهِ كَرْبٌ دَعَا بِهِنَّ «لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ الْحَلِيمُ الْكَرِيمُ سُبْحَانَ اللهِ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ» هَذَا خَطَأٌ وابْنُ ثَوْبَانَ ضَعِيفٌ لَا يَقُومُ بِمِثْلِهِ حُجَّةٌ وَالصَّوَابُ حَدِيثُ يَعْقُوبَ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ taught him words to supplicate with when distress descended upon him: There is no god but Allah, the Forbearing, the Generous. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the Mighty Throne. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. This is an error, and Ibn Thawban is weak; a proof cannot be established with someone like him. The correct version is the hadith of Yaqub.
