✧ What to Say When You Hit a Stone and Stumble, Causing Your Finger to Bleed

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ قَالَ
سَمِعْتُ جُنْدَبًا يَقُولُ بَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَمْشِي إِذْ أَصَابَهُ حَجَرٌ فَعَثَرَ فَدَمِيَتْ إِصْبُعُهُ فَقَالَ «هَلْ أَنْتَ إِلَّا إِصْبُعٌ دَمِيتَ وَفِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ مَا لَقِيتَ»

✧ I heard Jundab say: While the Prophet ﷺ was walking, a stone struck him and he stumbled, and his finger bled. He said, "Are you anything but a finger that has bled, and in the path of Allah what you have encountered?"
