✧ Suhayb, the companion of the Prophet ﷺ, narrated to him that the Prophet ﷺ never saw a village he intended to enter except that, when he saw it, he said: 'O Allah, Lord of the seven heavens and what they shade, Lord of the earths and what they carry, Lord of the devils and whom they mislead, Lord of the winds and what they scatter, we ask You for the good of this village and the good of its people, and we seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil of its people and the evil of what is in it.' Abu Abd al-Rahman said: Hafs b. Maysarah is acceptable, and Abd al-Rahman b. Abi al-Zinad is weak; he differed from Abd al-Rahman b. Abi al-Zinad. 10303 Harun b. Abdullah informed us: Saʿd b. Abd al-Hamid narrated to us: Ibn Abi al-Zinad narrated to us from Musa b. ʿUqbah from ʿAta b. Abi Marwan from his father that Abd al-Rahman b. Mughith narrated to him: Kaʿb said: Muhammad ﷺ never came to a village intending to enter it except that, when he saw it, he said the like of it, exactly, up to 'the evil of its people.' He said: And Kaʿb said that Suhayb narrated to him this supplication from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: And Kaʿb said that these were the supplication of Dawud when he saw the enemy. [202] Ibn Ishaq differed from him. 10304 Ibrahim b. Yaʿqub informed me: Al-Nufayli narrated to us: Muhammad b. Salamah narrated to us from Ibn Ishaq from ʿAta b. Abi Marwan from his father from Abu Mughith b. ʿAmr that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked down upon Khaybar, he said to his companions, and I was among them, 'Stop.' Then he said: 'O Allah, Lord of the heavens and what they shade...' the like of it. He said: And he used to say it for every village he entered. 10305 Zakariyya b. Yahya informed me: Umar b. Ali narrated to us: Abdullah b. Harun narrated to us: My father narrated to me: Muhammad b. Ishaq narrated to me: One whom I do not suspect narrated to me from ʿAta b.
