أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُقَدَّمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بِشْرٍ الْخَثْعَمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِذَا سَافَرَ فَرَكِبَ رَاحِلَتَهُ قَالَ بِإِصْبُعِهِ وَمَدَّ شُعْبَةُ بِإِصْبُعِهِ فَقَالَ «اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ الصَّاحِبُ فِي السَّفَرِ وَالْخَلِيفَةُ فِي الْأَهْلِ اللهُمَّ زَوِّ لَنَا الْأَرْضَ وَهَوِّنْ عَلَيْنَا السَّفَرَ اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ وَعْثَاءِ السَّفَرِ وَكَآبَةِ الْمُنْقَلَبِ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he traveled and mounted his riding beast, said, pointing with his finger—and Shu'bah extended his finger—: 'O Allah, You are the Companion in travel and the Deputy among the family. O Allah, contract the earth for us and make the journey easy for us. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of travel and the gloom of return.'
