أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنِي عُثْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ عَنْ أَسْمَاءَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ كُنْتُ إِذَا حُدِّثْتُ

عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ حَدِيثًا اسْتَحْلَفْتُ صَاحِبَهُ فَإِذَا حَلَفَ صَدَّقْتُهُ وَحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَصَدَقَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ «لَيْسَ مِنْ عَبْدٍ يُذْنِبُ ذَنْبًا فَيَتَوَضَّأُ وَيُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ يَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ إِلَّا غَفَرَ لَهُ»

✧ Concerning the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a hadith: I would make its narrator swear an oath, and when he swore, I believed him. Abu Bakr narrated to me — and Abu Bakr spoke the truth — that he said: “There is no servant who commits a sin, then performs wudu, prays two rak‘ahs, and then asks Allah’s forgiveness, except that He forgives him.”
