أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَأَخْبَرَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ نَصْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «لَيْسَ الشَّدِيدُ بِالصُّرَعَةِ» قَالُوا فَمَا الشَّدِيدُ؟ قَالَ «الَّذِي يَمْلِكُ نَفْسَهُ عِنْدَ الْغَضَبِ»

✧ I heard the Prophet ﷺ. And Nasr b. ʿAli b. Nasr informed us, from ʿAbd al-Aʿla; he said: Maʿmar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, from Humayd b. ʿAbd al-Rahman, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet ﷺ said, “The strong one is not the one who throws people down.” They said, “Then who is the strong one?” He said, “The one who controls himself when angry.”
