أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ هِشَامًا أَبَا بَكْرٍ يَقُولُ حَدَّثَنَا بُدَيْلٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنِ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْهُمْ تُدْعَى أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَأْكُلُ فِي بَيْتِهِ فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ جَائِعٌ فَأَكَلَهُ بِلُقْمَتَيْنِ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْ ذَكَرَ اسْمَ اللهِ لَكَفَاكُمْ فَإِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَذْكُرِ اسْمَ اللهِ فَإِنْ نَسِيَ أَنْ يَذْكُرَ اسْمَ اللهِ فِي أَوَّلِهِ فَلْيَقُلْ بِاسْمِ اللهِ فِي أَوَّلِهِ وَفِي آخِرِهِ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was eating in his house when a hungry Bedouin came and ate it in two mouthfuls. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Had he mentioned the name of Allah, it would have sufficed you. When one of you eats, let him mention the name of Allah. If he forgets to mention the name of Allah at the beginning, let him say, 'In the name of Allah at its beginning and at its end.'"
