حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، نَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، أَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، نَا عُمَرُ بْنُ نَبْهَانَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ; أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ:

مَرَرْتُ لَيْلَةَ أُسْرِيَ بِي بِقَوْمٍ تُقْرَضُ شِفَاهُهُمْ، فَقُلْتُ: مَنْ هَؤُلَاءِ ؟ قَالَ: هَؤُلَاءِ الْخُطَبَاءُ مِنْ أُمَّتِكَ، أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ: الَّذِينَ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ

✧ On the night I was taken on the Night Journey, I passed by people whose lips were being cut. I said: Who are these? He said: These are the preachers from your nation—I think he said—who say what they do not do.
