حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ الْأَزْدِيِّ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ؓ يَقُولُ لِلْحَلَّاقِ: « يَا غُلَامُ، أَبْلِغِ الْعَظْمَيْنِ ». قَالَ: فَلَمَّا حَلَقَهُ أَعْطَاهُ ذِرَاعَيْهِ وَصَدْرَهُ، فَحَلَقَ شَعَرًا عَلَيْهِمَا وَالنَّاسُ يَنْظُرُونَ. فَقَالَ لَهُ سَالِمٌ: يَا أَبَةِ، إِنَّ النَّاسَ يَحْسَبُونَ أَنَّهَا سُنَّةٌ ؟ قَالَ: « فَأَخْبِرِ النَّاسَ أَنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ بِسُنَّةٍ، وَلَكِنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ آذَاهُ شَعَرُهُ، فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يُخَفِّفَهُ عَنْهُ

✧ I heard Ibn 'Umar ؓ say to the barber: "O boy, reach the two bones." He said: When he shaved him, he gave him his forearms and chest, and he shaved the hair on them while people were watching. Salim said to him: "O father, people think it is a sunnah?" He said: "Inform the people that it is not a sunnah, but Ibn 'Umar's hair was bothering him, so he wanted to lighten it from him."
