✧ The duha prayer

وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ، عَنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ جَدَّتِهِ رُمَيْثَةَ قَالَتْ:

رَأَيْتُ عَائِشَةَ ؓ صَلَّتِ الضُّحَى ثَمَانِيَ رَكَعَاتٍ، فَقُلْتُ لَهَا: شَيْءٌ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَفْعَلُهُ، أَوْ شَيْءٌ أَمَرَكِ بِهِ ؟ ! قَالَتْ: مَا أَنَا بِمُحَدِّثَتِكِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِيهِنَّ شَيْئًا، وَلَكِنْ لَوْ نُشِرَ لِي أَبِي مِنَ الْقَبْرِ عَلَى أَنْ أَدَعَهُنَّ لَمْ أَدَعْهُنَّ

Translation

✧ I saw Aishah ؓ pray the Duha prayer eight rak‘ahs. I said to her: “Is this something I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do, or something he commanded you to do?” She said: “I will not tell you anything about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding them, but if my father were raised from the grave for me on condition that I abandon them, I would not abandon them.”
