✧ The virtue of walking to the mosques at night

قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ، وَعَبْدٌ جَمِيعًا: حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، أَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ نِبْرَاسٍ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ؓ، قَالَ:

أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ، فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ يَمْشِي، وَأَنَا مَعَهُ نُقَارِبُ فِي الْخُطَا، فَقَالَ: إِنَّمَا فَعَلْتُ هَذَا لِيَكْثُرَ عَدَدُ خُطَانَا فِي طَلَبِ الصَّلَاةِ

Translation

✧ The prayer was established, so the Messenger of God ﷺ went out to the mosque walking, and I was with him, taking short steps. He said: 'I only did this so that the number of our steps in seeking the prayer would increase.'
