✧ The poor among the Muslims complained about the superiority the rich had over them. They said: O Messenger of God, these are our brothers: they believed as we believed, prayed as we prayed, fasted as we fasted, but they have an advantage over us in wealth: they give charity and maintain family ties, while we are poor and cannot do that. He ﷺ said: Shall I not tell you something that, if you do it, you will catch up with their virtue? Say after every prayer: 'God is greatest' eleven times, 'Praise be to God' eleven times, 'Glory be to God' eleven times, and 'There is no god but God alone, no partner with Him' eleven times: you will attain the like of their virtue. The rich heard of that and said the same as the Messenger of God ﷺ commanded them. They came to him and said: O Messenger of God, our brothers say the same as we say. He ﷺ said: That is the grace of God, which He gives to whom He wills. Shall I give you glad tidings, O company of the poor? The poor believers will enter Paradise before their rich ones by half a day, which is five hundred years.
