✧ When Yazid b. Abi Sufyan was governor in Syria, the Muslims raided and were safe and gained booty. Among their booty was a precious slave-girl, and she fell to a man among the Muslims. Yazid sent to him and seized her from him. Abu Dharr ؓ was in Syria that day, so the man sought help from Abu Dharr ؓ against Yazid. He went with him and said to Yazid: 'Return his slave-girl to him.' He hesitated three times. Abu Dharr ؓ said: 'By Allah, if you do it, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: The first to change my Sunnah will be a man from Banu Umayyah.' Then he turned away from him. Yazid caught up with him and said: 'I remind you of Allah (Exalted is He): is it I?' He said: 'O Allah, no.' And he returned the slave-girl to the man.
