✧ The Messenger of Allah's Curse upon al-Hakam b. Abi al-As, His Sons, and the Banu Umayyah

وَقَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ، عَنْ أَبِي يَحْيَى، قَالَ:

كُنْتُ يَوْمًا مَعَ الْحَسَنِ وَالْحُسَيْنِ ؓ، فَسَبَّهُمَا مَرْوَانُ سَبًّا قَبِيحًا، حَتَّى قَالَ: وَاللهِ إِنَّكُمْ لَأَهْلُ بَيْتٍ مَلْعُونُونَ، فَقَالَ الْحَسَنُ وَالْحُسَيْنُ ؓ، أَوْ أَحَدُهُمَا: وَاللهِ، وَاللهِ، ثُمَّ وَاللهِ، لَقَدْ لَعَنَكَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَى لِسَانِ نَبِيِّهِ ﷺ وَأَنْتَ فِي صُلْبِ الْحَكَمِ، فَسَكَتَ مَرْوَانُ

Translation

✧ One day I was with al-Hasan and al-Husayn ؓ, and Marwan reviled them with a foul revilement, until he said: 'By Allah, you are indeed a cursed household.' Al-Hasan and al-Husayn ؓ, or one of them, said: 'By Allah, by Allah, then by Allah, Allah (Mighty and Majestic) cursed you upon the tongue of His Prophet ﷺ while you were in the loins of al-Hakam.' Marwan fell silent.
