- قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ: أَخْبَرَنِي شَبَابَةُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ الْمَدَائِنِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَرْيَمَ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ؓ، قَالَ:
كُنْتُ أَنْطَلِقُ أَنَا وَأُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ إِلَى أَصْنَامِ قُرَيْشٍ الَّتِي حَوْلَ الْكَعْبَةِ، فَنَأْتِي الْعَذِرَاتِ، فَنَأْخُذُ حُرَيْرَاقَ بِأَيْدِينَا، فَنَنْطَلِقُ بِهِ إِلَى أَصْنَامِ قُرَيْشٍ فَنُلَطِّخُهَا، فَيُصْبِحُونَ فَيَقُولُونَ: مَنْ فَعَلَ هَذَا بِآلِهَتِنَا ؟ فَيَنْطَلِقُونَ إِلَيْهَا وَيَغْسِلُونَهَا بِاللَّبَنِ وَالْمَاءِ

✧ I used to go with Usama b. Zayd to the idols of Quraysh that were around the Kaaba. We would go to the places where they would relieve themselves, and we would take dung in our hands and go to the idols of Quraysh and smear them with it. When morning came, they would say, “Who did this to our gods?” So they would go to them and wash them with milk and water.
