قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ الْكُوفِيُّ، ثَنَا مُسْهِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ سَلْعٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِعَبْدِ خَيْرٍ: كَمْ أَتَى عَلَيْكَ ؟ قَالَ: عِشْرُونَ وَمِائَةُ سَنَةٍ. قُلْتُ: تَذْكُرُ مِنْ أَمْرِ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ شَيْئًا ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، كُنَّا بِبِلَادِ الْيَمَنِ فَجَاءَنَا كِتَابُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ يَدْعُو النَّاسَ إِلَى خَيْرٍ وَاسِعٍ، وَكَانَ أَبِي مِمَّنْ خَرَجَ وَأَنَا غُلَامٌ، فَلَمَّا رَجَعَ قَالَ لِأُمِّي: مُرِي بِهَذِي الْقِدْرِ فَلْتُرَقْ لِلْكِلَابِ فَإِنَّا قَدْ أَسْلَمْنَا، فَأَسْلَمَ
Translation

✧ I said to Abd Khayr: "How old are you?" He said: "One hundred and twenty years." I said: "Do you remember anything from the days of ignorance?" He said: "Yes. We were in the lands of Yemen when a letter from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to us, calling people to abundant good. My father was among those who went out while I was a boy. When he returned, he said to my mother: 'Order this pot to be poured out for the dogs, for we have embraced Islam.' So he became a Muslim."
