✧ I descended with the Prophet ﷺ from the mountain pass of Harsha, and the strap of his sandal broke. I handed him my strap, but he refused to accept it, and he ﷺ sat in the shade of a tree to repair his sandal. He ﷺ said to me: Look who you see. I said: This is so-and-so. He ﷺ said: Wretched is the servant of God, so-and-so. Then he ﷺ said to me: Look who you see. I said: This is so-and-so. He ﷺ said: Wretched is the servant of God, so-and-so. Then he ﷺ said to me: Look who you see. I said: This is so-and-so. He ﷺ said: Excellent is the servant of God, so-and-so. The one to whom he ﷺ said 'Excellent is the servant of God' was Khalid ibn al-Walid ؓ. As for the other two, I will not inform anyone about them.
