قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ، ثَنَا أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ ابْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ - ؓ قَالَ:
قَدَّمْنَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ تَمْرًا، فَجَثَا عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ، فَأَخَذَ قَبْضَةً، فَقَالَ: اذْهَبْ بِهَذَا إِلَى فُلَانَةَ وَأَخَذَ قَبْضَةً، وَقَالَ: اذْهَبْ بِهَذَا إِلَى فُلَانَةَ، حَتَّى قَسَمَ ﷺ بَيْنَ نِسَائِهِ قَبْضَةً قَبْضَةً، ثُمَّ أَخَذَ قَبْضَةً يَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ، وَيُلْقِي النَّوَى بِشِمَالِهِ، فَمَرَّتْ بِهِ دَاجِنَةٌ، فَنَاوَلَهَا إِيَّاهُ، فَأَكَلَتْهُ.

✧ We brought dates to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he knelt on his knees, took a handful, and said: 'Take this to so-and-so.' And he took a handful and said: 'Take this to so-and-so,' until he ﷺ distributed among his wives handful by handful. Then he took a handful, eating from it and casting the pits with his left hand. A domestic animal passed by him, so he handed it to her, and she ate it.
