✧ The Punishment of One Who Learns the Qur'an Then Forgets It

وَقَالَ أَحْمَدُ فِي الزُّهْدِ: حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ، ثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْعَالِيَةِ يَقُولُ:

كُنَّا نَعُدُّ مِنْ أَعْظَمِ الذُّنُوبِ أَنْ يَتَعَلَّمَ الرَّجُلُ الْقُرْآنَ ثُمَّ يَنَامُ عَنْهُ حَتَّى يَنْسَاهُ

Translation

✧ We used to consider among the greatest of sins that a man learns the Qur'an then sleeps away from it until he forgets it.
