✧ The Virtue of the Reciters

وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ: حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، ثَنَا عِيسَى هُوَ ابْنُ الْمُخْتَارِ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ؓ، قَالَ:

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَرَأَيْتَ رَجُلًا قَرَأَ أَوَّلَ اللَّيْلِ، ثُمَّ سَرَقَ آخِرَهُ ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: « إِذَا قَرَأَ أَوَّلَ اللَّيْلِ حَجَزَهُ آخِرَهُ عَنْ أَنْ يَسْرِقَ

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of Allah, what do you think of a man who recited (the Qur’an) at the beginning of the night and then stole at the end of it?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: “When he recited at the beginning of the night, the end of it prevented him from stealing.”
