وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ: حَدَّثَنَا هَوْذَةُ، ثَنَا عَوْفٌ قَالَ: بَلَغَنِي
أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ ؓ قَالَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ: أُذَكِّرُ اللهَ تَعَالَى رَجُلًا سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ: « إِنَّ الْقُرْآنَ أُنْزِلَ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ كُلُّهُنَّ شَافٍ كَافٍ » لَمَا قَامَ، فَقَامُوا حَتَّى لَمْ يُحْصَوْا فَشَهِدُوا بِذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ ؓ: وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ مَعَكُمْ ثَلَاثًا، سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ.

✧ ʿUthmān ؓ said from the pulpit: I adjure by Allah Almighty any man who heard the Prophet ﷺ say: «The Qurʾān was revealed in seven letters, all of them sufficient and healing» to stand up. They stood up until they could not be counted, and they testified to that. Then ʿUthmān ؓ said: And I testify with you, three times: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say that.
