✧ There was a man from among those before you among disbelieving people, and among them were righteous people. The man said, 'As long as I have been in my disbelief, I will surely go to this righteous village and become a man from among them.' So he set out, but his appointed time overtook him on the way. The angel and the devil disputed over him; this one said, 'I have more right to him,' and that one said, 'I have more right to him.' So Allah, Blessed and Exalted, sent one of His soldiers to them and said, 'Measure the distance between the two villages; to whichever of them he was closer, he belongs to it.' So they measured between the two villages and found him closer to the righteous village, so he was from among them.
