✧ The Virtue of Remembrance

قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ: وَسَمِعْتُ حَرِيزَ بْنَ عُثْمَانَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِي بَحْرِيَّةَ، عَنْ مُعَاذٍ ؓ قَالَ:
مَا عَمِلَ آدَمِيٌّ أَنْجَى لَهُ مِنْ عَذَابِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مِنْ ذِكْرِ اللهِ تَعَالَى. قَالُوا: وَلَا الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ؟ قَالَ: لَا، وَلَوْ ضَرَبَ بِسَيْفِهِ، قَالَ اللهُ: وَلَذِكْرُ اللهِ أَكْبَرُ
Translation

✧ No human being has done a deed more saving for him from the punishment of God, Mighty and Majestic, than the remembrance of God Almighty. They said: “Not even striving in the path of God, Mighty and Majestic?” He said: “No, even if he strikes with his sword, for God says: ‘And the remembrance of God is greater.’”
