حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ، ثَنَا عَبَّادٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ؓ
قَدِمَ رَجُلٌ نَصْرَانِيٌّ مِنْ أَهْلِ جُرَشَ تَاجِرٌ فَكَانَ لَهُ بَيَانٌ وَوَقَارٌ فَقِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، مَا أَعْقَلَ هَذَا النَّصْرَانِيَّ فَزَجَرَ الْقَائِلَ وَقَالَ: « مَهْ إِنَّ الْعَاقِلَ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِطَاعَةِ اللهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى
Translation

✧ A Christian man from the people of Jurash, a merchant, arrived; he had eloquence and dignity. It was said: “O Messenger of Allah, how intelligent this Christian is!” He rebuked the speaker and said: “Stop! The intelligent one is the one who acts in obedience to Allah, Blessed and Exalted.”
