قَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ، ثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، ثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ شَيْخٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ: طَارِقٌ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَالِكٍ الرُّوَاسِيِّ قَالَ:

أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، ارْضَ عَنِّي، فَأَعْرَضَ ﷺ عَنِّي ثَلَاثًا، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، وَاللهِ إِنَّ الرَّبَّ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى لَيُتَرَضَّى فَيَرْضَى. قَالَ: فَرَضِيَ ﷺ عَنِّي

✧ I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of Allah, be pleased with me.” He ﷺ turned away from me three times. Then I said: “O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, the Lord, Blessed and Exalted, is indeed appeased until He is pleased.” He said: So he ﷺ became pleased with me.
