✧ The Showing of a Servant's Deeds Even If He Conceals Them

وَقَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، قَالَ:
كَتَبَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ ؓ إِلَى مَسْلَمَةَ بْنِ مُخَلَّدٍ: أَمَّا بَعْدُ، فَإِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِذَا عَمِلَ بِطَاعَةِ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَحَبَّهُ اللهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى، وَإِذَا أَحَبَّهُ حَبَّبَهُ إِلَى خَلْقِهِ، وَإِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِذَا عَمِلَ بِمَعْصِيَةِ اللهِ تَعَالَى أَبْغَضَهُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ، وَإِذَا أَبْغَضَهُ اللهُ تَعَالَى بَغَّضَهُ إِلَى الْخَلْقِ

✧ Abu al-Darda' ؓ wrote to Maslamah b. Mukhallad: 'To proceed: When a servant acts in obedience to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, Allah, Blessed and Exalted, loves him; and when He loves him, He makes him beloved to His creation. When a servant acts in disobedience to Allah Most High, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, hates him; and when Allah Most High hates him, He makes him hateful to creation.'
