✧ Encouragement and urging to seek knowledge

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ، ثَنَا مَسْعَدَةُ بْنُ الْيَسَعِ، عَنْ شِبْلِ بْنِ عَبَّادٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ ؓ:

إِنَّ رَجُلًا جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: أَيُّ النَّاسِ أَعْلَمُ ؟ قَالَ ﷺ: مَنْ يَجْمَعُ عِلْمَ النَّاسِ إِلَى عِلْمِهِ وَكُلُّ صَاحِبِ عِلْمٍ غَرْثَانُ

Translation

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: “Which of the people is most knowledgeable?” He ﷺ said: “The one who gathers the knowledge of the people to his own knowledge, and every possessor of knowledge is hungry [for more].”
