✧ Prohibition of Asking About What Has Not Occurred

أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ الصَّلْتِ بْنِ رَاشِدٍ، قَالَ:

سَأَلْتُ طَاوُسًا عَنْ شَيْءٍ، فَقَالَ: أَكَانَ هَذَا ؟ فَقُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: فَإِنَّ أَصْحَابَنَا أَخْبَرُونَا، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ ؓ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: لَا تَسْتَعْجِلُوا بِالْبَلِيَّةِ قَبْلَ نُزُولِهَا

Translation

✧ I asked Tawus about something, and he said: "Has this happened?" I said: "Yes." He said: "Our companions informed us from Mu'adh b. Jabal ؓ that he said: 'Do not hasten toward a calamity before it descends.'"
