✧ Explanation of the Major Sins

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَقِيلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ وَهْبٍ قَالَ:

سَأَلْتُ جَابِرًا ؓ أَسَمِعْتَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يَقُولُ: لَا يَزْنِي الزَّانِي حِينَ يَزْنِي وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ، وَلَا يَسْرِقُ حِينَ يَسْرِقُ، وَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ ؟ قَالَ: لَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ، وَأُخْبِرْتُ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ؓ كَانَ يَقُولُهُ

Translation

✧ I asked Jabir ؓ: 'Did you hear the Prophet ﷺ say: The adulterer does not commit adultery while he is a believer, and the thief does not steal while he is a believer?' He said: 'I did not hear it, but I was told that Ibn 'Umar ؓ used to say it.'
