✧ The Traits That Admit One to Paradise and Protect One's Blood

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا نُوحُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَشْعَثُ الْحُدَّانِيُّ عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبَسَةَ قَالَ:

أَقْبَلَ شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ يَدَّعِمُ عَلَى عَصًا حَتَّى قَامَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ: إِنَّ لِي غَدَرَاتٍ وَفَجَرَاتٍ فَهَلْ تُغْفَرُ لِي ؟ قَالَ ﷺ: أَلَسْتَ تَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ ؟ قَالَ: بَلَى، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ. قَالَ ﷺ: فَقَدْ غُفِرَتْ لَكَ غَدَرَاتُكَ وَفَجَرَاتُكَ

Translation

✧ An old man came forward, leaning on a staff, until he stood before the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have committed treacherous acts and immoral deeds. Will I be forgiven?' He ﷺ said, 'Do you not bear witness that there is no god but Allah?' He said, 'Yes, and I bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allah.' He ﷺ said, 'Your treacherous acts and immoral deeds have been forgiven.'
