✧ Observing the Times by the Customary Measures

قَالَ مُسَدَّدٌ: حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، ثَنَا الْأَحْوَصُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ الْيَزَنِيِّ، قَالَ:

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَسْتَحِبُّ الدِّيكَ الْأَبْيَضَ، وَيَأْمُرُ بِاتِّخَاذِهِ وَيَقُولُ: « إِنَّهُ يُؤَذِّنُ لِلصَّلَاةِ، وَيُوقِظُ النَّائِمَ، وَيَطْرُدُ الْجِنَّ بِصِيَاحِهِ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to like the white rooster and would command keeping it, and he would say: "Indeed, it calls to prayer, wakes the sleeping, and drives away the jinn with its crowing."
