✧ The command to show affection to brothers

وَقَالَ أَبُو يَعْلَى: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ سَلِمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْخُزَاعِيُّ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ؓ قَالَ:

كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يُؤَاخِي بَيْنَ الِاثْنَيْنِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ، فَتَطُولُ عَلَى أَحَدِهِمَا اللَّيْلَةُ، حَتَّى يَلْقَى أَخَاهُ، فَيَلْقَاهُ بِوُدٍّ، وَلُطْفٍ، فَيَقُولُ: كَيْفَ كُنْتَ بَعْدِي ؟ فَأَمَّا الْعَامَّةُ فَلَمْ يَكُنْ يَأْتِي عَلَى أَحَدِهِمَا ثَلَاثٌ، لَا يَعْلَمُ عِلْمَ أَخِيهِ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to make brotherhood between two of his companions, and the night would grow long for one of them until he met his brother, and he would meet him with affection and gentleness, and say: 'How have you been since I last saw you?' As for the common people, not three [days] would pass for either of them without him knowing the condition of his brother.
