✧ Censure of one who does not fall ill

وَقَالَ الْحَارِثُ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ، قَالَ:
دَخَلَ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ أَعْرَابِيٌّ جَسِيمٌ، ذُو جُسْمَانٍ عَظِيمٍ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: « مَتَى عَهْدُكَ بِالْحُمَّى ؟ » قَالَ: لَا أَعْرِفُهَا، قَالَ ﷺ: « فَالصُّدَاعُ ؟ » قَالَ: لَا أَدْرِي مَا هُوَ ؟ قَالَ ﷺ: « فَأُصِبْتَ بِمَالِكَ ؟ » قَالَ: لَا، قَالَ ﷺ: « فَرُزِئْتَ بِوَلَدِكَ ؟ » قَالَ: لَا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: « إِنَّ اللهَ يُبْغِضُ الْعِفْرِيتَ النِّفْرِيتَ الَّذِي لَا يُرْزَأُ فِي وَلَدِهِ، وَلَا يُصَابُ فِي مَالِهِ »

✧ A hefty bedouin, a man of large build, came to the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said to him: “When did you last have a fever?” He said: “I do not know what it is.” He ﷺ said: “And a headache?” He said: “I do not know what it is.” He ﷺ said: “Have you ever been afflicted in your wealth?” He said: “No.” He ﷺ said: “Have you ever lost a child?” He said: “No.” The Prophet ﷺ said: “God detests the obstinate, ill-tempered man who is not bereaved of a child and not afflicted in his wealth.”
